If you are in England you have to face the fact: you cannot avoid British life. Two days after my arrival I realised that I am already drinking tea in the afternoon and I have a bag of cookies in my cupboard.
So prepare yourself, as today we are going to eat and treat like an English(wo)man.
If you are lucky enough to visit the southwest part of the country Cornish pastries are going to be your new found love. Those D-shaped beauties are filled with meet, cheese and onion, and are crispy and soft at the same time.
Longing for some beer breaded fish and chips? Then you should visit the coastline of Britain, and you will not be disappointed at all. You can have the best Cod and fries there, which you will never forget.
British cheese are worth mentioning as well. Red Leicester has a special colour, and it is firm with a nutty taste. Blue Stilton with mould has a really characteristic taste and smell, while Wensleydale is a tender cheese, often blended with cranberry. So do not hesitate to buy a selection of British cheese when you are here.
If you are in Nottingham, (or in England in general) you will eventually meet the packed English triple chocolate / blackberry Muffins which keep a really a nice company for a cup of afternoon tea (which you cannot resist either, because face it: you are in Britain, you have to try it.)
As for prepared sweets, it is equal to a sin to miss out on Cadburry treats. Those chocolates are the best in the country with a delicate flavour and tenderness.
+1 So there is nothing left, but to have a little vinegar & salt or prawn cocktail chips by Walkers as a snack after dinner. Those chips are both sweet and sour and are really British.
