Nottingham has two universities: The Nottingham Trent University (motto: Shaping futures), and the University of Nottingham (motto: a city is built on wisdom).
However they get along well, a healthy rivalry is common among them, but nothing too serious. Just don't start to talk about your personal choice of University at 3 in the morning with another person, who is obviously the student of the other institution.
As far I as'm concerned I attend the Trent University alongside with around 28.000 other students.
Now as the Induction week is long over, and hard work has begun, let me tell you 5 things about the 1st week of University.
1. Parties don't stop (sorry for bringing up this again, but I don't want to lie... they are everywhere). The only thing that changed is the fact that the next day you have to be at class relatively early (9 or 10 o'clock. I know, some might say it is not that early, but most students are used to sleeping after 12 during week 0...)
2. You have homework to do. (No way, how is this even possible?) The truth is that classes require a lot of reading and preparing for them. So get used to spending lot of time with texts, and less time with your favourite serials. Life is, after all a sacrifice, isn't it?
3. Lunch breaks and free classes are the best. Around the university there are plenty of places to go, land lots of cafés or small bars to eat or drink something nice. As it is Autumn I could not resist Starbucks and their Pumpkin Spice Latte when I had a little free time between 2 lectures. (Hipsters haters gonna hate for it, but go and give it a try, it is really good)
This was mine.. And I loved it
4. If you skip classes you are gonna have a bad time. In my course all he teachers check attendance, so we might just take it seriously, and try to go to every class.
5. As my housemates and I have 12 different timetables it is not uncommon to come home to a perfectly empty house... and take the time to relax in the living room.
